What is Pump casing?

Casing for centrifugal pumps surround the pump rotor which transmits energy to the fluid handled via the impeller(s) mounted on the rotating shaft.
There are two primary parts of every pump: an impeller and a casing. The impeller creates velocity and the casing converts velocity into pressure.
